Busch Joins Volvo on Stage at CES 2025
Sweden’s Minister for Energy, Business and Industry, Ebba Busch, is set to take the stage at CES 2025 in Las Vegas next week. Sharing the spotlight with Volvo Group CEO Martin Lundstedt, her keynote will focus on Sweden’s transformation into a global tech and innovation powerhouse.
According to Andia Gemsjö, a spokesperson for Busch, the minister will highlight how Sweden has evolved from a struggling country on the fringes of Europe to a leader in innovation and technology.
“Ebba Busch will discuss how Swedish companies, especially in the tech sector, bring hope to a world facing significant challenges. She will emphasize how new technology and innovation solve crises such as climate change, demographic shifts, and the need for future wealth creation,” Gemsjö says.
There is not yet any official information available about Ebba Busch being a speaker at CES 2025, and the comments from her staff have been sparse. After several emails and calls, SVNB was informed that the minister will give a keynote speech on Wednesday, January 8, between 9 and 10 am. This is the same date and time as Volvo Group CEO Martin Lundstedt will deliver his keynote speech as one of the five chosen top industry leaders this year. When asked if Busch will be on the same stage, the responding email states, “Yes.”
Responding to the minister's decision to attend CES, Gemsjö points to the strategic importance of the U.S. as Sweden’s second-largest export market and a leader in many critical technological fields.
“There are significant opportunities for increased collaboration between Sweden and the U.S. in emerging technologies. CES is one of the world’s most influential events for showcasing innovations, making it a vital platform for Swedish companies,” Gemsjö adds.
After the conference, Busch and her team will travel to San Francisco to meet with leading American tech companies focusing on artificial intelligence and energy issues.
Volvo Group Highlights Fossil-Free Transport
As one of five keynote speakers at CES 2025, Martin Lundstedt will present Volvo Group’s vision for sustainable mobility, unveiling innovations in electrification, connectivity, and automation. Lundstedt emphasized that collaboration is key to achieving Volvo’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040.
“The technology is here, but it’s crucial to have the right conditions in place to ensure that society and the planet benefit from these fossil-free solutions,” Lundstedt said in an earlier press release.
With more than 4,500 exhibitors and 170,000 attendees expected, CES remains the world’s largest technology event and a significant platform for companies to showcase their breakthroughs.
Lundstedt and Busch’s keynote is scheduled for 9 a.m. PT on Jan. 8, 2025, at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
Silicon Valley Nordic Beat has contacted Volvo Group for additional comments on the company’s collaboration with Minister Busch but has yet to receive a response.
