San Jose will become the center of gravity for climate tech professionals next week as VERGE 24 unfolds at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Hilde Haugen Kallevig from Norsk Hydro will be one of the keynote speakers, and a batch of Danish startups is preparing to pitch.
The Finlandia Foundation is kicking off the green climate week with an event on Monday in San Francisco, featuring a panel discussion moderated by Johanna Behm, CEO of UpCycleo and board member of Finland Foundation in San Francisco.
“By coming together as a climate community, we can mobilize resources to close the funding gap, connect founders with support, and educate the public,” she says.
One of the speakers at VERGE 24 is Hilde Haugen Kallevig, VP of Commercial Partnerships at Norsk Hydro. She will discuss decarbonizing the aluminum supply chain.
“This is an extremely important task, as aluminum usage is rising and global emissions from the industry are increasing. My main argument is that while we need to address multiple aspects of decarbonization, the most immediate action is to better use what we already have,” she explains.
Kallevig recently relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area.
“I’m here to connect with the first companies interested in purchasing and collaborating on our premium recycled material, Hydro CIRCAL, which contains over 75% old American aluminum scrap,” she adds.

Innovation Centre Denmark Silicon Valley is supporting the green agenda by hosting eight Danish climate tech startups as part of its accelerator program. These startups will connect with industry leaders, pitch to top venture capitalists, and showcase their technologies at VERGE 24.
We Don’t Have Time, a Stockholm-based platform and media partner for VERGE 24, will be broadcasting live from the event. The platform focuses on democratizing climate action by mobilizing a large community of climate professionals and influencers.
VERGE 24 will gather over 6,000 professionals from various sectors to explore decarbonization, energy transitions, and circular economy solutions, showcasing the latest innovations in climate tech.
