The interest in buying equipment from the ongoing auction of assets from Cuberg's factory in San Leandro is reportedly huge. "We have almost 200 registered bidders," says Manuel Padilla at Silicon Valley Disposition.
This Tuesday marked the first day of the auctions, in which the remaining assets of Northvolt's subsidiary Cuberg in San Leandro will be sold to the highest bidder.
"The interest has been outstanding, with over 70,000 page views to the sale details pages between the three sales and just under 200 registered bidders so far, and auctions have attracted registrants from around the world," says Manuel Padilla, Creative & Marketing Director at Silicon Valley Disposition.
What is the estimated value for all the items for sale?
"The estimated secondary market return is always to be decided, particularly when you have very late-model and state-of-the-art assets. Based on the provided acquisition cost, we anticipate the three sales combined will generate millions."
The auction, split into three phases, will run until October 10. Assets include advanced equipment used in Cuberg's cutting-edge battery technology to revolutionize the aviation industry. Northvolt, which acquired Cuberg in 2021, announced that its research will continue in Sweden, with some key people from Cuberg joining the Swedish team. However, as Silicon Valley Nordic Beat understands, most 200 employees in the Bay Area are still searching for new job opportunities.
