An Exciting Year Comes to an End
As we close the book on an exciting year, Silicon Valley Nordic Beat is just getting started—it’s been only four months since I launched this publication. The decision wasn’t due to a lack of media coverage of the region—quite the opposite. What I saw missing was authentic, in-person journalistic coverage with a Nordic perspective.
Is this kind of coverage necessary? My answer was a resounding “yes” when I started, and now I’m even more convinced. Nordic individuals are achieving remarkable milestones in this dynamic innovation hub, supported by governmental agencies leveraging public funds. Moreover, in Silicon Valley, networking is paramount. Success starts with your peers and quickly expands outward.
This fall, Silicon Valley Nordic Beat has covered - to mention a few - Databricks, led by Swedish-Iranian CEO Ali Ghodsi, raising a record $10 billion in a Series J funding round, ŌURA securing additional funding to expand its wearable technology offerings, Northvolt’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings including the SF-based subsidiary Cuberg, and Candela’s partnership with FlyTahoe. SVNB also reported from the Humanoids Summit 2024 in Mountain View, where Norwegian 1X highlighted how humanoid robots are poised to transform homes and workplaces.
As we enter 2025, everyone tries to peer into the crystal ball to predict what’s next. All I can say for sure is that we’ll see groundbreaking innovations, surprising breakthroughs, and, yes, a few disappointments along the way.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Happy New Year!
